Products and Conditions
What products does Refurbly New Zealand sell?
Refurbly sells brand-new, open-box, refurbished and pre-owned products. Our range may include laptops, desktop computers, monitors, tablets, mobile phones, audio products, networking equipment, storage, memory, accessories, office equipment, appliances and other technology products.
What does refurbished mean?
A refurbished product is a previously owned, returned, ex-lease, ex-corporate or ex-display item that has been inspected and prepared for resale.
The refurbishment process may include:
- Functional and hardware testing
- Professional cleaning
- Secure data erasure where applicable
- Operating-system installation or reset
- Repair or replacement of defective parts where required
- Final quality-control inspection
Refurbished products may show signs of previous use consistent with their advertised cosmetic grade.
What is the difference between Excellent, Very Good and Good condition?
Excellent Condition: Fully functional with minimal cosmetic signs of previous use.
Very Good Condition: Fully functional with moderate cosmetic wear such as visible scratches, marks or small scuffs.
Good Condition: Fully functional with more noticeable cosmetic wear, including scratches, dents, casing wear or signs of previous commercial use.
Cosmetic wear consistent with the advertised grade does not ordinarily affect normal functionality.
Please review our Product Conditions page for complete grading information.
Will the refurbished product look brand new?
Not necessarily. Refurbished products may have scratches, scuffs, small dents, keyboard wear, casing marks or other signs of previous use. The amount of wear will depend on the condition grade stated in the listing.
Refurbished refers primarily to the product being inspected, tested and prepared for resale. It does not mean that every external component has been replaced.
Are product images of the exact item I will receive?
Product images may be manufacturer images, representative stock images or photographs of an actual unit.
Where representative images are used, the individual product supplied may have minor cosmetic, packaging, accessory or hardware-revision differences while still meeting the advertised model, specifications and condition grade.
What does open box mean?
Open-box products are unused or substantially unused products whose packaging has been opened, damaged, removed or replaced.
Open-box products may have been opened for inspection, testing, photography or quality control. They may be supplied in original, replacement or plain protective packaging.
Will my product include original packaging?
Brand-new products will generally include manufacturer or distributor packaging unless otherwise stated.
Refurbished, open-box and pre-owned products may be supplied in original, replacement, plain protective or Refurbly-branded packaging. Packaging is selected primarily to protect the product during shipping.
Are chargers and accessories included?
Essential accessories required for normal operation will be included where stated in the product listing.
Refurbished and open-box products may include original manufacturer accessories or compatible replacement accessories. Printed manuals, promotional materials, recovery media and non-essential accessories are not included unless specifically stated.
Batteries, Software and Compatibility
What battery condition should I expect?
Batteries are consumable components and naturally lose capacity through age, use, charging cycles and storage.
Unless a specific battery-health percentage is stated in the product listing, battery runtime is not guaranteed to match a newly manufactured product.
Refurbished devices are assessed to confirm that the battery charges or powers the device to an acceptable operational level at the time of testing.
Is an operating system included?
Where an operating system is included, the product listing will normally state the installed version.
Refurbished computers may be supplied with a clean installation, factory reset, digital licence or manufacturer recovery installation. Third-party applications and subscriptions are not included unless expressly stated.
How do I check whether a product is compatible with my setup?
Please review the model, specifications, operating system, ports, network frequencies, software requirements and accessory compatibility shown in the product listing.
Where compatibility is essential, contact us before purchasing with details of the system, network, software or accessory you intend to use.
Are mobile phones and tablets unlocked?
Unless otherwise stated, cellular devices are expected to be unlocked or compatible with the networks identified in the product listing.
Customers should confirm SIM, eSIM, network frequency, carrier and regional compatibility before purchasing.
Are refurbished devices still water resistant?
Refurbly does not guarantee the original water-resistance rating of refurbished, pre-owned or repaired devices unless expressly confirmed in writing.
Water resistance can reduce through age, previous use, repairs, refurbishment or deterioration of seals.
Orders and Payments
How do I know whether my order was successful?
After successfully placing an order, you should receive an order confirmation at the email address entered during checkout.
Please check your spam or junk folder if the confirmation does not arrive. Contact us if you are unsure whether the order was completed.
What payment methods do you accept?
Available payment methods are displayed at checkout and may include major credit and debit cards, Shopify-supported payment options, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay and other approved providers.
Available methods may vary by order value, device and customer location.
Are prices shown in New Zealand dollars?
Unless otherwise stated, prices displayed on Refurbly New Zealand are shown in New Zealand dollars.
Any applicable taxes, shipping charges or additional fees will be displayed at checkout where applicable.
Can I change or cancel an order?
Contact us as soon as possible if you need to change or cancel an order. We cannot guarantee changes or cancellation once processing, fulfilment or dispatch has started.
If the order has already been dispatched, it may need to be returned under our Refund Policy.
Why was my order or payment declined?
A payment may be declined by your bank, payment provider or fraud screening system. Common reasons include incorrect billing details, insufficient funds, transaction limits or security verification.
Refurbly may also request additional verification before processing certain orders.
Can I obtain a tax invoice?
Order confirmation and invoice documentation will normally be sent electronically or made available with the order.
Contact our customer support team with your order number if you require another copy.
Shipping and Delivery
Where does Refurbly New Zealand deliver?
We deliver eligible products to residential and business addresses throughout New Zealand.
Carrier availability, delivery timeframes and shipping charges may vary for rural, remote, offshore, oversized or freight addresses.
How much does shipping cost?
Standard shipping may be free for eligible orders within New Zealand unless a shipping charge is displayed on the product page or at checkout.
Additional charges may apply to rural, remote, oversized, heavy, palletised or special-handling deliveries.
How long will delivery take?
Estimated delivery timeframes after dispatch are generally:
- Major metropolitan areas: approximately 1–3 business days
- Regional locations: approximately 2–5 business days
- Rural or remote locations: approximately 3–10 business days
- Oversized or freight deliveries: approximately 3–10 business days
These estimates are guides only and may vary according to stock location, destination, carrier conditions and circumstances beyond our control.
When will my order be dispatched?
Orders are generally processed during New Zealand business days, excluding weekends and public holidays.
Dispatch will usually occur within one to two business days, subject to stock availability, payment verification and warehouse processing.
How do I track my order?
Tracking information will normally be emailed after dispatch. Tracking may take up to 24–48 hours to become active after the shipping label is created.
Orders dispatched from multiple locations may have more than one tracking number and may arrive separately.
Can you deliver to a PO Box or collection address?
Eligible smaller products may be delivered to PO Boxes, Private Bags or approved parcel-collection addresses where supported by the carrier.
Oversized items, freight deliveries and parcels carried by providers that do not service PO Boxes require a physical street address.
Do you deliver to rural addresses?
Yes, where carrier services are available. Rural delivery fees and extended timeframes may apply.
Some parcels may be transferred to a local delivery agent for the final stage of delivery.
What should I do if tracking says delivered but I cannot find the parcel?
Please first check:
- Safe locations around the property
- With other household members
- With reception staff or building management
- With nearby neighbours
- Any delivery photograph or carrier notification
Contact the carrier and Refurbly promptly if the parcel remains missing. We may open an investigation with the delivery provider.
What should I do if my product arrives damaged?
Contact us as soon as possible, preferably within 48 hours of delivery.
Please retain and photograph:
- The external shipping carton
- The shipping label
- The internal packaging
- The damaged product
- All included accessories
This information helps us assess the issue and lodge a carrier claim where required.
Where can I read the complete shipping terms?
Please review our Shipping Policy for complete processing, delivery, tracking and international shipping terms.
Returns, Faults and Refunds
Can I return a product because I changed my mind?
Refurbly may accept eligible change-of-mind returns where a request is submitted within the applicable return period and the product remains unused, complete and in as-new condition.
Original packaging, accessories, manuals and included components must be returned. Return shipping, original shipping costs or a reasonable restocking fee may apply where permitted.
Please review the Refund Policy before returning a product.
What should I do if my product is faulty?
Contact our customer support team with your order number, product model, serial number where applicable and a clear description of the issue.
We may request photographs, video or reasonable troubleshooting before authorising a return.
Depending on the nature of the issue and applicable New Zealand consumer law, the available remedy may include repair, replacement, refund or another appropriate resolution.
Do I need approval before returning a product?
Yes. Please contact Refurbly and obtain return instructions before sending a product.
Unauthorised returns may be delayed, refused or returned to the sender because we may be unable to identify the order or reason for return.
Who pays for return shipping?
Customers generally pay return shipping for approved change-of-mind returns.
Where a return is required because a product is faulty, incorrectly supplied, damaged during delivery or otherwise covered by New Zealand consumer law, return costs will be managed in accordance with applicable legal requirements.
How long do refunds take?
Approved refunds are generally returned to the original payment method.
After Refurbly processes a refund, the bank or payment provider may take approximately 3–10 business days to display the funds in your account.
What should I do before returning an electronic device?
Before returning a device, please:
- Back up important data
- Remove personal files
- Sign out of cloud and manufacturer accounts
- Disable activation locks and device locks
- Remove SIM and memory cards
- Remove passwords and PINs
- Perform a factory reset where possible
Returned products may be tested or erased as part of the assessment, repair or refurbishment process.
Warranty and Consumer Rights
Do products include a warranty?
The applicable warranty period, where offered, will be stated on the product page, order confirmation or supporting documentation.
Warranty coverage may be provided by Refurbly, the manufacturer, distributor or another authorised service provider.
Warranty coverage operates in addition to applicable rights under New Zealand consumer law.
What is not normally covered by warranty?
Subject to applicable law, warranty may not cover:
- Accidental or impact damage
- Liquid or moisture damage
- Misuse, neglect or abuse
- Incorrect installation
- Unauthorised repair or modification
- Power surges or unsuitable accessories
- Normal cosmetic wear
- Normal deterioration of consumable components
These exclusions do not limit rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Are refurbished products protected by New Zealand consumer law?
Consumer guarantees may apply to both new and second-hand products supplied by a trader.
The acceptable condition of a product may be assessed in light of its age, price, description, disclosed condition and the circumstances of sale.
Nothing in Refurbly's policies excludes rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or other applicable New Zealand law.
